Craft a Gorgeous Junk Journal Folio – Step-by-Step!
Ready to Create Something Beautiful Together!
Hi there, Junk Journal Enthusiast!
This month, we're diving into a project that’s perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters alike: the Junk Journal Folio.
Folios are compact, versatile, and oh-so-fun to personalize! Whether you're using them to store ephemera, jot down notes, or give as gifts, these little treasures are a joy to create.
Ready to make your very own folio? Let’s get started!
What You'll Need:
A large envelope or a piece of cardstock (8.5” x 11” or larger works well)
Scrapbook paper, book pages, or other decorative paper
Glue stick, double-sided tape, or craft glue
Scissors or a paper trimmer
Embellishments: stamps, stickers, lace, buttons, or washi tape
Optional: sewing machine for stitched edges
Step-by-Step Guide:
Base Structure:
Fold your envelope or cardstock in half to create a booklet shape. If using cardstock, you can fold additional flaps for pockets.
Cover It Up:
Cover the front and back with your chosen decorative paper. Feel free to layer book pages, music sheets, or vintage prints for a more eclectic look.
Create Pockets and Flaps:
Add pockets by gluing down three sides of smaller pieces of paper or fabric. You can also fold over sections of your base paper to create built-in storage spaces.
Decorate and Embellish:
Let your creativity shine! Add lace trims, buttons, or fabric scraps to give your folio texture and dimension. Use stamps or doodle patterns for a personal touch.
Fill It Up:
Tuck in journaling cards, tags, or small envelopes filled with goodies. This makes your folio interactive and ready for your thoughts, notes, or keepsakes.
Pro Tip: For extra durability, consider reinforcing folds with washi tape or stitching the edges. This not only adds a decorative touch but ensures your folio lasts longer.
